Double Rainbow!

Probably the most spectacular rainbow I've seen anywhere, ever. And right here in Echo Park.

Just one more reason to correctly dispose of that Christmas Tree.

A few days ago I noticed a used Christmas tree, complete with tinsel, at the Clinton Street end of the Kent street walkway, just below our lower parking lot gate.

When Alice came home at about 9 p.m. last night she saw and smelled a large amount of smoke coming from the Kent Street walkway - it turned out that some miscreants had dragged the abandoned tree down the walkway and set fire to it. It was almost done burning by the time we realized what was going on, but it could have easily caught the Oleander hedge or the hillside on fire as well.

Alice called 911 while I grabbed the hose and got as much water onto it as I could through the hedge. When the Fire Department arrived a few minutes later, they took one sniff of the air and said, "Christmas tree?". I suspect they get a fair amount of this type of thing at this time of the year.

The above photo is of the burned palm tree on the hillside below our building - a reminder of another fire incident that happened a few months back.
